Anthony Legion, also known as "Ace Law," spent his days and nights studying procedural and Constitutional jurisprudence. He successfully earned degrees while in prison. He taught a law class on Fundamental Constitutional Principles and procedural aspects for motions for relief from judgment (from a paralegal's perspective). Additionally, he has successfully assisted countless inmates with filing and winning appeals.
His journey runs deeper: In 2001 he was wrongfully convicted of First-Degree Murder and received a sentence of Life without the possibility of parole. In Michigan, that is essentially a death sentence. Determined not to die in prison, he relentlessly started working on his own case with a keen legal eye. Along with devoted professionals from the State Appellate Defenders Office (SADO), they were able to persuade a Federal District Court to reverse his conviction in 2007. However, the U.S. Court of Appeals reinstated his conviction in 2008. His determination for freedom continued. In 2020, after an extensive investigation by the Wayne County Conviction Integrity Unit, the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office requested that the court vacate his conviction based on newly discovered evidence. He was released from prison on December 15, 2020 after serving 19 years and 10 months for a crime he did not commit.
From walking out of prison , he walked straight into a law office handling criminal appeals, landing his first place of employment at Wolfe Law PLLC. He also immediately founded a non-profit organization, DJST Taskforce. DJST assists individuals who were convicted due to false jailhouse informant testimony. Anthony conducts thorough investigations for these individuals. This is a passion project for Anthony due to his wrongful conviction being the result of false and manufactured testimony by a jailhouse informant.
